HostRabbit
Application Immunohistochemistry (paraffin)

Background
The antibody against ACTH is suitable for the detection of the hormone in tissue slices of the pituitary and in ectopic ACTH producing cells as it may occur in SCLC (small cell lung carcinoma). The adrenocorticotropic hormone ACTH is produced by cells of the pituitary gland as a pro-opiomelanocortin precursor. It is secreted into the blood as biological active ACTH (1-39). It is stimulating the synthesis and secretion of steroid hormones like cortisol and corticosterone from the adrenal cortex of mammalians and interrenal glands of other vertebrates. It is essential for the maintenance of glucose and salt in the blood. ACTH 1-24, no reactivity with CLIP (ACTH 17-39).

Caution
*These antibodies are intended for in vitro research use only. They must not be used for clinical diagnostics and not for in vivo experiments in humans or animals. ** The preservative sodium azide is known to be poisonous and potentially hazardous to health. It should be handled only by trained staff. Despite of the product's low azide concentration it must be handled with care. Dispose according to regional rules!
